SCULPTURA - European Sculpture Fair

German Historic Museum Berlin Unter den Linden 2
Berlin, 10117
United Kingdom

The SCULPTURA European Sculpture Fair, will be an exclusive fair for showing and selling European and non-European sculpture from all periods up to Modernism. The intention is to highlight the art genre of sculpture in order to create a broader basis in public and media awareness for sculpture dealers as well as to boost general interest. With outstanding sculptural works from Antiquity up to Modernism and with a choice number of committed and qualified dealers for these periods, the fair aims to draw attention to the special qualities of the sculpture genre. Sculpture is not just an element of decoration but, most importantly, an art genre with its own artistic status that should always be viewed as an antipole to painting. An important component of the fair will be the supporting programme. During the exhibition a symposium with lectures by recognised scholars will offer the public – experts and visitors alike – the opportunity to expand their knowledge and exchange thoughts and ideas. The symposium will be held in collaboration with the Berlin museums, also offering tours through Berlin’s sculpture collections and of course through the fair itself. The lectures and their outcome will be published in book form.
