The Fortune Teller's Beads
The painting depicts a tent at a fair with Corfe Castle, Dorset beyond. Inside the tent a young couple consult a fortune teller and her beads. The male figure on the left has an immediacy and directness which seems to suggest that it could be a self-portrait.
